The IPG Flameless Generator for EV charging

IPG’s turbine technology is a cleaner, cheaper, grid-independent power solution for Ultra-Rapid, Rapid, Fast and Slow EV charging. Up to eight 100kW turbines fit in a 20ft shipping container, forming a deployable power solution that can be scaled to match demand for both public and fleet EV charging infrastructure.

Each unit can be turned on or off to match demand, without impacting system efficiencies, or redeployed in other locations to respond to variations in predicted demand.


The power solution can also be optimised to provide power to the site facilities, be that a motorway service station or delivery depot, when not in use for charging.

100kW modules can be scaled to demand, whilst maintaining emissions and cost benefits. One 20ft shipping container can charge 35 vans overnight, or power Ultra-Rapid charging for 8 cars at one time.

Highways England is funding this project to assess how IPG's turbine technology could present a solution for delivering power at a competitive cost while improving air quality, that would alleviate grid stress in high-use areas, as well as enabling remote locations to facilitate EV charging.”
